Charting a six year collaboration to better understand the value of satellite data to decision making.

Satellite information can help us understand air quality, water quality, deforestation, land use, urban sprawl, and many other processes on Earth. This improved understanding in turn can improve decisions that are made by governments, the private sector, and private individuals. Until recently, references to how satellite data have been used were mostly anecdotal, but the true value of the data and these satellite missions was rarely quantified. Together, Resources for the Future (RFF) and NASA created an initiative to measure the value of satellite information.

I was approached to help bring this multi-year collaboration to life through a report that highlighted the project's work and results. To create a visually driven but easily digestible report, I developed a clean and colourful style which made use of lots of icons, data points, a timeline, and a number of infographics to explore the project in an engaging and accessible way.

This was one of my favourite projects from 2023, and I was so excited to work on a project that involved both my long term client RFF, and NASA, who I've always dreamed of working with.
